Vocational Rehabilitation Services
Vocational Rehabilitation Services supports each individual’s goals for recovery through employment education and a range of applied work experiences. Through job preparation, one-on-one consultations, and/or career services, social and economic independence is promoted. Vocational Rehabilitation Services provides a valuable learning environment where not only transferable work skills can be gained, but also a sense of stability and hope.
Through supported employment opportunities, individual’s can also increase their sense of accomplishment, community involvement, self-esteem, and pride. A range of employment supports is offered in both London and WOTCH North Exeter. WOTCH North Goderich provides one-on-one assistance and access to employment-related community resources. Exploration of appropriate employment opportunities
Employment preparation through one-on-one consultation
Pre-vocational training courses such as Job Readiness, Safe Food Handling, WHMIS, Cash Handling, etc.
On-going job maintenance through coaching and advocacy
Connections with community employers to find appropriate, well-matched jobs
Links to resources such as funding for further training
Volunteer opportunities.
In-House Employment Opportunities for Skills Development
WOTCH Centre Kitchen (London): In-house training program for acquiring skills in safe preparation, cooking, and serving of lunch/dinner meals.
Queens Avenue Bistro (London) and WOTCH North Canteen (WOTCH North Exeter): Client-run snack bars providing employment and training in food preparation, catering services, customer relations, cash handling, and inventory control.
Janitorial Services (London and WOTCH North Exeter): Training and employment through janitorial services to offices, homes, and businesses at reasonable rates.
Piecework (London and WOTCH North Exeter): Contracts with local businesses to complete work such as gift baskets and small assembly provide employment geared to the physical capacities of the individual.
Supportive Occasional Job Opportunities (WOTCH North Exeter): In-house casual job opportunities such as snow removal/landscaping, general maintenance, laundry services providing training and employment.
Community Employment Opportunities – Benefits to Employee and Employer (London and WOTCH North Exeter)
Assistance and support to individuals in acquiring and maintaining community jobs as well as developing and maintaining independent self-employment.
Provide employers with pre-screened, well-matched candidates.
Offer on-going support for both employee and employer.
Provide on-site job coaching for employee.
Education and support to employer concerning mental illness and workplace accommodations.
